A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
