Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important official commented the incident made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
