The ex-president's insatiable desire for retribution has quickly morphed into a methodical system. During the past year, the leader's rage and impulses have assumed the form of government actions similar to comparable to earlier dictatorial systems. Government personnel who do not cooperate are promptly removed and replaced by devotees. Critical figures who challenge him risk legal action, judicial process and punishment. Critics have been categorized under presidential memoranda as “hostile to national interests”, “opposed to religious values” and “opposing economic freedom”, and warned with legal action as “terrorists”.
Government Institutions Restructured
Every situation involving legal action of critics and protection for loyalists displays its own distinct qualities. However, notwithstanding their specific form, they embody expressions of what has emerged as a deliberate method. Those events are anything but isolated. His removal of DoJ lawyers and FBI personnel, alongside his appointment of loyalists in senior positions, began swiftly, soon took on a consistency, and has now been formed into a structure. DoJ and the law enforcement agency have been restructured into partisan agencies under the president's direct command to execute his wishes. Wrongdoing has been made routine. It represents the system of punishment.
Administration is more concerned with penalizing the chief's perceived adversaries than they are with defending our public welfare.
Inside the Apparatus
The foundation of this system has been exposed in the lawsuit of several former senior law enforcement officials submitted in late summer in the federal court in DC against FBI director a senior appointee and attorney general Pam Bondi for unlawful firing in “a campaign of revenge against the officials for what administration figures deemed to be a refusal to exhibit proper political loyalty”. The document states that a former acting director, the former temporary head, describes a discussion in which the director “openly confessed the unlawfulness of his behavior”.
He had tried to shield law enforcement officers from being fired, the lawsuit states. He told him that “they” – perceived by him to be the executive branch and federal prosecutors – had ordered him to remove everyone who they considered as having participated in a law enforcement case against the president. The complaint goes on: “Patel stated that he had to fire the individuals his leaders told him to dismiss, because his capacity to keep his own job depended on the dismissal of the personnel who were involved in matters involving the chief executive. He noted that there was nothing he or him could do to stop these or any other terminations, because ‘the bureau tried to place the President in prison and he recalls it clearly.’” When he informed Patel he was disregarding the FBI's own policies, he allegedly said “he knew that and he realized the nature of the swift terminations were almost certainly illegal”.
Widespread Impact
Since Patel's claimed acknowledgment to him, the DoJ and the Federal Bureau have been gutted and redirected for his retribution system. Several of the agency's senior executives were terminated or forced out in the first days of the government. About numerous legal professionals at DoJ have accepted a “voluntary departure plan”. No fewer than several government attorneys, among them those in the New York office, stepped down in objection over what they viewed as political interference in dropping the corruption case against the local official, a political figure, in exchange for his assistance with the administration's ICE arrests of migrants. The anti-corruption unit of the department, which handles ethical violations, has been cut down to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been decimated: 70% of its personnel has left. One-third of senior leaders at DoJ have resigned. The division upholding ecological regulations has lost half its management.
Incentives and Penalties
Concerning the legal matter, the interim prosecutor for the NY office, she, quit in dissent against what she characterized as the “quid pro quo”. The border official, the president's “border czar,” appeared as the enforcer with him on Fox News to declare: “Unless he complies, I will return in the city.”. And, a former official, formerly the senior DoJ official and a former Trump attorney, who arranged the arrangement, was awarded an court role, a potential stepping stone to the highest court.
His immunity for offenses perpetrated while in government, granted by the unprecedented judgment of the conservative on the judicial body, thus blocking his prosecution over the Capitol riot and maintaining his political viability for the presidential race, is the basis on which he relies to shield his supporters. With such immunity, he has been empowered to authorize misconduct. The effect of the court judgment permeates his administration and the Republican Party down to its bones. Trump v United States has metastasized. Similar to the former president's administration lawyer John Dean remarked about the Watergate
